Click here for picturesThe South Side Church of Christ had it"s beginnings on October 23, 1938. Forty-three people met in a lodge hall over a liquor store at 246 E. Court Street. The group adopted a Resolution of Organization on December 18, 1938. In the spring of 1939 the congregation began meeting at the shelter house in the old Perry Park. In late autumn of 1939 it became necessary to meet in the homes of members until a permanent place of worship could be obtained. The Wesley Chapel at 921 S. Fayette Street in Washington Court House was purchased from the Grace Methodist Church and the first service was held there on January 7, 1940. On August 14, 1948, the congregation was incorporated under the laws of the State of Ohio as the South Side Church of Christ. In 1963 a fellowship hall/classroom area was built behind the church building which was then razed in preparation for the new sanctuary which would be built in 1964. A dedication service for the fellowship hall and sanctuary was held on September 23, 1964.In 1994 we added a early worship service at 8:00am.In 1996 a groundbreaking service was held for a new 10,000 square foot Family Life Center which would house new classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchen and a multi-purpose room which would seat up to 500 people. The dedication service for this new facility was held on August 24, 1997. In October of 1999 we began worshiping in the Family Life Center to encourage further growth. In January, 2007, changes were made in our worship services with the Early Worship service beginning at 8:00 am, a contemporary service at 10:30am in the Family Life Center, and a traditional service at 10:30am in the chapel. In 2009 the vision of the church became Love God, Love People, Serve the World. The leadership continues to seek God’s guidance to find new ways to reach out and love the people of Fayette County.

Movement is all about growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ. God takes us just as we are, but he loves us so much he wants us to grow. Here at South Side we have three steps that help us become disciples.Step 1: Love GodThe first step in our relationship with God is to love Him. One of the ways we can do this is through worship services. Step 2: Love PeopleThe second step in our relationship with God is to love people. We believe that you grow to love people by connecting with them. We take this step through our Sunday School and Small Groups. Step 3: Serve the WorldThe third step in our relationship with God is to serve the world. One of the best ways to show our love for God and people is to serve others. For more resources for Christian Growth, scroll down and click on "READ MORE".

ChildrenOur Children have many opportunities to worship, grow closer to one another and learn how to serve. Youth Groups have started! Sunday nights at 6pm

The Well at Sunnyside Service Projects Worship in the Traditional Service is accompanied by organ and piano. We sing hymns that have been favorites for many generations. Words are projected in the front or you can use your hymnbook. We always participate in Communion, Offering, a prayer time and a message from God's Word.

Traditional Worship Service The Contemporary Service is relevant, engaging and authentic. On your way into the worship space, you might stop by our coffee bar and grab a free hot coffee, water, hot chocolate or tea, whichever you prefer. Take it to your seat and you’ll likely be greeted by a video before we start the music, which is often loud and engaging. After we sing together you will experience a teaching that is creative, relevant, and practical to your everyday life. At some point of the service we partake in the sacred act of communion and offering. You’ll have a chance to respond at the end, then we’ll dismiss, play some tunes on your way out and you’ll see more smiling faces as you leave. You will notice when you come that dress code isn't a big issue. The people on stage are often seen in jeans, shorts and sneakers. So just come as you are and experience Christ along with the rest of us.

Contemporary Worship Service Children's & Preschool Worship We have big dreams at South Side to see people loved and lives changed. That starts with people like you helping us do what we do every week. Getting involved gives you a way to join the journey with us and help make the dream a reality!
