A little bit about South Side: South Side Church of Christ (SSCOC) is a growing, spirit led, instrumental church in Fayette County (South Central Ohio). While we have a rural aspect to our location and carry the small-town charm, we are within forty-five minutes’ drive time of three major Ohio cities (Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus). We draw families from all over Fayette County that currently sits at a population of approximately 28,000. We have the blessing of a large worship center, an event center, and ample multi-function rooms with space to grow in a two-story facility. We are a multi-generational church of between 250-300 in attendance on Sunday mornings. We enjoy a strong and creative worship style, that is about giving glory to the Lord. We have volunteers from all backgrounds and age groups, teen through adult. We have a good reputation within our local community and the surrounding area. Our reach and our desire to reach is ever growing within Fayette County.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Pastor, Connections & Outreach is a full-time position (expect 40 hours a week) with shared responsibility—alongside the lead pastor, associate staff, and elders. The Pastor, Connections and Outreach will serve the Body of Christ at SSCOC by overseeing processes and outreach events that facilitate connection into church-life (assimilation) and that serve to mobilize followers of Jesus to multiply themselves by becoming mature disciple making disciples. The Pastor, Connections and Outreach will provide leadership, management, structure and vision that will equip various parts of the Body of Christ for works of service. In addition, the Pastor, Connections and Outreach, will serve as an as needed part of the Teaching Team alongside the Lead Pastor and will provide pastoral care in various other areas as needed.
There is ample room for the staff member to bring and use his/her own gifts and talents to SSCOC as the Holy Spirit directs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Oversee all processes and teams that support in connecting the unconnected into community and service.
• Oversee and manage a consistent, systematic process for assimilating guests, regular attenders and members into church-life that supports all ministry areas.
• Provide oversight and further development of an expedient, weekly follow-up process in response to connections information received through digital and hard copy avenues.
• Recruit, develop, mobilize and lead a team who support in the process of personally connecting with individuals for the purpose of connecting and integrating people into church-life.
• Oversee scheduling and implementation of Active Member Orientations, Spiritual Development, and Discipleship Courses.
• Oversee Circle/Support/Discipleship Groups and provide vision, leadership and support to all group leaders.
• Oversee and provide vision, leadership and support to Ministry Team Coordinators for the following areas: Prayer, Security/First Responders, Greeting Team; to also include leaders of all Circle groups.
• Oversee the coordination of certain assigned church events, create volunteer event teams and delegate duties to the appropriate individuals for the event.
• Serve as a member of the Teaching Team as needed.
• Develop, propose and manage annual budgets for your ministry area.
• Provide pastoral services such as counseling, officiating weddings or conducting funerals as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ministry Degree or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in digital connections platforms and programs related to connections.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: verbal, written and electronic.
• Supervisory skills such as coaching, mentoring, nurturing, holding accountable to ministry goals, and helping to create a reporting structure that works for the individual.
• Ability to consistently interact with a variety of levels of leadership.
• Ability to "see the big picture" to include a working knowledge of entire church and a vision for the growth needs
• Ability to maintain compassion, humbly with a caring heart while peacemaking.
• Ability to prioritize and follow through while being adaptable to change.
• Confidence to effectively communicate new programs, processes and procedures to a wide variety of groups and individuals to gain support and affect change.
PERSONAL LIFE EXPECTATIONS:
Every Staff Member is responsible to lead from a healthy place, to serve interdependently, to communicate well, to build a culture of leadership development and multiplication by being an Equipper of ministry, and to publicly and privately support the Mission, Values, Strategy of SSCOC.

A disciplined, daily-time with Christ (incorporating spiritual disciplines) along with a consistent day of Sabbath each week are not only critical to ensuring our identity is found in Christ alone (and not primarily in the success of ministry) but are expected and must be protected.

• Make a Home in the Community: Staff are expected to live where they serve and actively work for the peace and prosperity of our community beyond the church.
• Equip People: We work hard to establish healthy relationships with folks we lead, love, support and serve alongside in ministry. We do ministry with a team approach and see ourselves as equippers of God’s people.
• Continual Learning: We should be consistently growing and evolving in our practices and methodology of ministry, regularly learning new ways of being and doing ministry.
